Two winners - and compelling stats for Newcastle v Middlesbrough tonight

There are two more Premier League games this week - with
connotations at both ends of the table...

Newcastle take on Middlesbrough in a North East derby tonight (see
below). Both teams are in the relegation zone and are desperate for
points. Then on Wednesday night it's Man Utd's long-awaited 'game
in hand' at Wigan. A win there will put Ferguson's men just one
point away from the league title.

The Corners and Booking Points stats don't pinpoint any strong
match-ups here - but both team's recent Form figures highlight a

Both teams' recent form is dreadful. Newcastle have only scored
once in 5 games since Alan Shearer took over as manager - and
haven't won any of their last 10 games.

Middlesbrough have lost their last 10 away games in a row - and are
the Premier League's lowest away scorers with just 9 goals 'For' in
17 games this season.

Both teams have struggled for goals and wins lately - neither team
has hit the back of the net in any of their last 3 games.

We mentioned Newcastle's habit of 'drawing' games a couple of weeks
back - when they drew 0-0 at home with Portsmouth (a 5/2 winner).
They've drawn more games than any one else in the Premier League
this season...

• Newcastle have drawn 13 games this season

• Middlesbrough have drawn 10

There is also a history of draws in this fixture - the last 4
meetings between these sides have all been draws. In fact, 7 of the
last 10 games have been drawn, with the last 4 Newcastle v
Middlesbrough games at St James' Park paying out on bets on the
tie.

This looks set to be a tight, hard fought game. Both teams are
fighting to avoid relegation - but neither has been able to do
enough to win a game recently. The Draw is a best priced 13/5 with
