Chelsea and Spurs keep up their 100% records

Monday 21st September 2009

Super Sunday certainly lived up to its name...

There were a net-busting 10 goals scored in the two live games!
Including a 4-3 win for Man Utd in what Sir Alex Ferguson has
hailed as one of the best Manchester derbies ever. That game was
followed with a 3-0 win for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge - landing us
an Over 2.5 Goals bet.

Results - Chelsea and Spurs keep up their 100% records

I previewed 5 games in Friday's email. Here are the results and
stats.

Chelsea 3 Tottenham 0

Total Corners = 14.

FBD said:

  • Over 2.5 Goals @ 5/6 - WON

  • Corners: 2/3rds stake on Over 12 Corners @ 11/8 (and 1/3rd
    stake on 10-12 Corners @ 21/10) - WON

The early season form pointed to two 'Over' bets here - and they
both won. There were 14 corners in the game, landing all Over 11
and Over 12 Corners bets on offer at the bookies at the weekend.

Also, bookies that accept multiple bets on Goals and Corners
(including Bet365) paid out on the Double at around 9/4.

100% records...

  • That win kept up Chelsea's 100% start to the season - played
6 and won 6, they're top of the league.

  • Bets on Over 2.5 Goals have paid out a winner if every Spurs
game so far - 6 out of 6 games.

West Ham 2 Liverpool 3

Corners = West Ham 4 Liverpool 4

FBD said:

  • Liverpool -1.5 Corner Handicap @ 8/11 - LOST

There were plenty of goals in this one - but the corners didn't
flow. Our recommended bet needed Liverpool to win 2 more corners,
but it finished 4-4.

Manchester Utd 4 Man City 3

First Goal = Man Utd (W.Rooney, 2 mins).

FBD said:

  • Team to Score First: Man City @ 12/5 - LOST

It's not often a team scores 3 goals at Old Trafford - it's only
happened twice in the past two seasons. But although City scored 3
times, they were never ahead at any point in the game - Wayne
Rooney's 2nd minute goal settling the Team to Score First market
early.

Aston Villa 2 Portsmouth 0

Total Corners = 12.

FBD said:

  • Double: Villa to win and Over 12 Corners @ 2/1 - LOST

A close one this - just one corner kick away from a 2/1 winner.
Villa got the win, but the corner count landed on exactly 12.

Combining the stats with the Match Result market didn't come off
this time - but it's a good way to boost your odds, and one I'll
definitely be looking at again throughout the season. Especially
for games that are live on TV (unlike this one), where there are
more options for Corners bets.

Things are looking grim for Portsmouth. They've lost all 6 games -
making them the only team in the league without a single point to
their name.

Bolton 1 Stoke 1

FBD said:

  • Stoke Draw No Bet @ 13/8 - VOID (money back)

The recent Form highlighted Stoke as good value at the weekend.
They looked all set for an away win, leading 1-0 until an 89th
penalty for Bolton levelled the scores. If you backed Stoke 'Draw
No Bet,' you'll have got your money back.

'The Goal Machine'

Three of the 'Under / Over' goals games I listed on Friday hit the
mark. Combining outcomes like these in doubles, trebles and accas
can land big payouts - I'll be listing the top-rated games, based
on the stats, in your weekly emails throughout the season.

  • Chelsea v Tottenham - OVER 2.5 Goals @ 5/6 - 3 goals (won)
  • Everton v Blackburn - OVER 2.5 Goals @ Evens - 3 goals (won)
  • Wolves v Fulham - UNDER 2.5 Goals @ 8/11 - 3 goals (lost)
  • Hull v Birmingham - UNDER 2.5 Goals @ 8/11 - 1 goal (won)
  • Burnley v Sunderland - UNDER 2.5 Goals @ 8/11 - 4 goals
    (lost)

Ten thousand more ways to win...

The Premier League season is still in its early stages, with just 6
rounds of games played (out of 38). So far our recommended bets
have a 61% strike rate - and as more and more form goes in the book
week on week, the stats and trends are only going to get stronger.

  • There are 320 games still to come - each with well over 30
betting markets to look at... so that's over 10,000 opportunities
    to cash-in!

Also a quick note on our Top Scorer bets from the start of the
season...

Fernando Torres (4/1) is on 5 goals, just one behind Wayne Rooney.
Torres is currently the bookies' 5/2 (3.50) favourite to win the
Golden Boot.

And Darren Bent also has 5 goals. That puts him 2nd in Paddy
Power's Top Scorer Handicap chart right now. I highlighted him at
22/1 each way in that market before the season began, with a +11.5
goals
handicap. Bent is on 16.5 goals, with only Burnley's on-loan
striker David Nugent (2 goals +15 handicap = 17) ahead of him.

There are midweek Carling Cup games this week, with 5 all-Premier
League ties - but watch out for manager's resting first team
players...

The league returns at the weekend with 10 more games - and I'll be
writing to you with the standout stats and our recommended bets on
Friday morning.

Best wishes,

Matt Nesbitt
