Tuesday 5th January 2010
In your Football Betting Data update today:
- 7 out of 10 winners over Christmas...
- Cash-in on the first 2 games of the year...
- Double up for midweek profits...
Happy New Year!
It turned out to be a profitable Christmas for us - with 7 out of 10
winning bets from our last match-day email on Christmas Eve.
I covered all but one of those results in last week's update email
(see 30th Dec email on the Results Archive page at our website). The
one game we were waiting on was Man Utd v Wigan - but the result
didn't go our way.
Man Utd 5 Wigan 0
Corners = Man Utd 7 Wigan 3
FBD said:
- Man Utd -5 Corner Handicap @ 4/5 - LOST
United were just a couple of corners short of beating the handicap
for us here. However the overall corner-winning trend stayed true to
form - Man Utd have won the Most Corners in 100% of games at Old
Trafford this season (10 out of 10) and Wigan have been out-cornered
in 9 out of 10 away - 90%.
We also had a near miss over Christmas with the player I highlighted
for Anytime Scorer bets, Bobby Zamora. He didn't find the net for
Fulham against Tottenham or Chelsea in the league - but he did hit
the winning goal against Swindon in the FA Cup on Saturday.
This week's games...
On to the 2010 calendar now and the first 2 Premier League games of
the year take place this week, with Stoke v Fulham tonight and
Arsenal v Bolton on Wednesday night. Read on for my match preview
and recommendations.
Those 2 games won't be live on TV though as the Carling Cup semi
finals take centre stage midweek - both are all-Premier League ties,
Blackburn v Aston Villa and Man City v Man Utd.
However there's not long to wait for more Premier League action...
All 20 teams play over the weekend and 5 of the 10 games are live on
either the Sky Sports or ESPN channels. I'll be back with your full
weekend preview on Friday. Until then remember you can get all the
latest Team Data and Head-2-Head stats at our website...

Stoke haven't won any of their last 6 Premier League games. And
they've failed to even score in 5 of those games.
Fulham have only been beaten once in their last 6 games - that was
at top-of-the-table Chelsea, a game in which Fulham actually had the
lead for 70 of the 90 minutes. Fulham have got on the score-sheet in
5 of those 6 games.
- Last season Fulham drew 0-0 at Stoke and beat them 1-0 at home
Fulham are 9th in the league and Stoke are 12th. However on recent
form...
Stoke are bottom of the Premier League's Form Guide table - based on
last 6 results. Fulham are 9th.
Fulham are 7/4 (2.75) for an away win tonight. But the '0 Asian
Handicap' and 'Draw No Bet' markets give you a better run for your
money...

Bolton parted company with Gary Megson over Christmas - and Burnley
manager Owen Coyle is the big favourite to take over at Wanderers.
As I write this morning Coyle is very short odds-on at just 1/25 to
be the 'Next Bolton Manager' - and only Skybet are still taking bets
on it.
With all that going on behind the scenes - and with Arsenal just 1/5
to claim what would be their 7th win on the trot against Bolton -
there doesn't look to be much value in the Match Result market for
this one.
The Goals and Corners stats standout though...
Arsenal have scored more goals at home than any other Premier League
team this season - 28 Goals For from 9 games. And games at the
Emirates Stadium are averaging 3.9 Total Goals.
Bolton away games are averaging 3.2 Total Goals. And Bolton are the
only team in the Premier League to have not kept a 'clean sheet'
this season - they've conceded at least 1 goal in each of their 18
games.
- 8 out of 9 Arsenal home games have been Over 2.5 Goals (89%).
And so have 62% of Bolton away games.
'Over 2.5 Goals' is 8/13 (1.62) with Coral and Totesport, and 6/10
(1.60) with William Hill.
Corners
Arsenal have won the Most Corners in 17 out of 19 games overall this
season. That's an impressive 89% strike rate. In comparison, Bolton
have only won the Most Corners in 2 of their 18 games (11%).
In fact Arsenal have won the Most Corners in their last 8 Premier
League games in a row, home and away. They've covered a '-5 Corner
Handicap' in their 3 most recent games, and that bet would've paid
out a winner in the last 3 games at the Emirates Stadium.
- Last season Arsenal beat Bolton home and away. And won the
corner count 5-0 at home and by a massive 17 corners to 7 away
Bolton have only won the Most Corners in 1 of their last 16 games
and have been out-cornered in their last 5 away games. Bets on the
home team with a '-5 Corner Handicap' would've paid out a winner in
3 of those last 5 Bolton away games - at Burnley, Aston Villa and
Man Utd.
FBD says:
- Arsenal '-5 Corner Handicap' @ 19/20 (1.95) with William Hill
or 10/11 (1.91) with Paddy Power
This bet wins if Arsenal win at least 6 corners more than Bolton.

Double up for midweek profits...
Bookies will accept Doubles on 2 of the options highlighted by the
stats for this week's games - paying out at over 13/10 (2.30) if
both selections come in.
For example:
- DOUBLE: Fulham 'Double Chance' v Stoke AND Arsenal v Bolton
'Over 2.5 Goals' @ 2.36 with 888 Sport and Blue Square
That Double wins if Fulham win or draw against Stoke tonight and if
there are 3 or more goals in the Arsenal-Bolton game on Wednesday.
Coral, Stan James and William Hill all offer around 13/10 (2.30).
And it's 2.36 with 888 Sport and Blue Square.
888 Sport: www.888sport.com
Blue Square: www.BlueSq.com
That's all for today - but I'll be back on Friday with the standout
stats for the weekend games...
Best wishes,
