This weekend - 8 ways to cash-in on Goals, Corners and Bookings

Friday 15th January 2010

In Football Betting Data today:

  • The snow is melting - Game On!
  • Monday's result
  • 8 ways to cash-in on Goals, Corners and Bookings this
    weekend...

Good news! The snow is starting to melt and we should be back to
business with the Premier League this weekend...

On Monday night the Man City v Blackburn game went ahead, but the
stats result didn't go our way:

Man City 4 Blackburn 1
Corners = Man City 4 Blackburn 3

FBD said:

  • Man City -3 Corner Handicap @ 10/11 - LOST

City were 4-0 up on the corners at Half Time but didn't win any in
the 2nd Half.

Plenty more ways to cash-in this weekend, and I've got 8 recommended
bets
for you across 5 games. Let's get straight down to it, starting
with Sunday's live game at Villa Park.

Being the stats man that I am, I've had 'Villa v West Ham' marked on
my fixture list for a while now - over the last year or so these
games have produced some of the Premier League's highest 'Corner
counts'...

  • Earlier this season at West Ham - Total Corners = 20

  • Last season at Villa Park - Total Corners = 23

Considering the bookies usually bet Under or Over 10 or 11 Corners,
you can see how high those totals are. And the key thing is both
teams' games are consistently paying out on 'Over' bets.

In 2008/9, Villa were a consistent 'high corners' team with 74% of
all Premier League games Over 10.5 Corners. And that trend has
continued this season.

  • 70% of Aston Villa home games have gone Over 10.5 Corners (7
    out of 10) this season

  • And 70% of West Ham away games also would've paid out on Over
    10.5 Corners
    bets (7 out of 10)

Both teams' games are averaging Over 11 Corners. Villa's home total
is 12.4 Total Corners and the average for West Ham away games is
11.9.

This game's live on TV so Corners bets will be on offer with plenty
of bookies - including Stan James, Bet365, Extrabet, Expekt, Skybet,
Paddy Power, Betfred, William Hill, Coral, Blue Square and 888
Sport.

FBD says:

  • 'Over 11.5 Corners' @ 4/6 (1.67) with Extrabet

This bet wins if there are 12 or more corners in the game.

I highlighted both teams' Over 2.5 Goals stats - and Arsenal's
corner-winning record - for the reverse fixture at the Emirates
Stadium last week. That game was called off due to the snow - but
we'll go again this weekend at the Reebok Stadium...

  • 4 of the last 5 Bolton games have paid out on Over 2.5 Goals
    bets

  • 4 of the last 5 Arsenal games have also been Over 2.5 Goals

The majority of both teams' games have paid out on 'Over' bets this
season - 70% of Bolton home games and 70% of Arsenal away games (7
out of 10) have gone Over 2.5 Goals. And so have 66% of Bolton and
80% of Arsenal games overall.

Arsenal are the Premier League's top scorers with 53 Goals For from
20 games. And they are also the top Away scorers with 23 Goals For
from 10 games. Bolton are the only team in the Premier League to
have not kept a 'clean sheet' this season - they've conceded at
least 1 goal in each of their 18 games.

Arsenal home games and Bolton away games are both averaging 3.7
Total Goals
this season. Over 2.5 Goals bets are available with most
bookies.

FBD says:

  • 'Over 2.5 Goals' @ 41/50 (1.82) with Ladbrokes and Expekt

Also available at 4/5 (1.80) with Skybet, Sportingbet, Paddy Power,
Blue Square, 888 Sport and Coral.

Corners

Bolton and Arsenal's stats are pretty much the opposite when it
comes to corner-winning...

  • Bolton have only won the Most Corners in 2 out of 18 games all
    season (11%)

  • While Arsenal have won the Most Corners in 17 out of 20 games
    - a high 85% strike rate

Arsenal have won the Most Corners in 8 out of 10 away games and the
data on our website shows their average away Corners Margin is +3.3
corners
. For this game you can bet on Arsenal to win 3 or more
corners more than Bolton.

FBD says:

  • Arsenal '-2 Corner Handicap' @ 4/6 (1.67) with William Hill

This bet wins if Arsenal win at least 3 corners more than Bolton.

The Cards and Booking Points figures clearly point to Hull here...

Tottenham home Booking Points averages:
For = 15.0 pts / Against = 26.5 pts

Hull away Booking Points averages:
For = 29.5 pts / Against 12.0 pts

Referees have only shown the First Card to a Spurs player in 3 out
of 10
games at White Hart Lane (30%). While Hull's away First Card
record is 80% - well above the Premier League away average of 53.5%.

The same goes for getting the Most Booking Points in the game.
Tottenham have only got the Most Booking Points in 4 out of 20 games
all season, and in just 1 home game (10%).

Hull on the other hand have received the Most Booking Points in half
of all games and in 70% of away games. Hull also got the First Card
and the Most Booking Points in their home game v Tottenham earlier
this season.

These markets are only available with William Hill for this game and
you won't get huge odds - but the stats point firmly to Hull...

FBD says:

  • '1st Card - Hull' @ 4/9 (1.44) with William Hill

And

  • 'Most Booking Points - Hull' @ 1/2 (1.50) with William Hill

There's not much between the bookies' Match Result odds for this
one. Portsmouth have won 2 of their last 3 home games and Birmingham
have won 2 of their last 3 away games.

As I've highlighted in our recent emails, Birmingham are on a great
run of form and are unbeaten in 12 games. The Blues have won 9 games
this season. And it's worth noting that all 9 of those wins have
been by Exactly 1 Goal.

  • Birmingham are 7/2 (4.50) in Bet365's Winning Margin market to
win by 1 goal this weekend

When these two met at St Andrews earlier in the season, Birmingham
beat Portsmouth 1-0. And that score-line has been a common one for
both teams this season...

  • Portsmouth have lost 1-0 in 5 games this season (out of 20)

  • Birmingham have won 1-0 in 6 games this season (out of 21)

If you'd had £1 on Birmingham to win 1-0 at 7/1 in every game this
season, you'd have staked £21 and returned £48 - that's 129% profit.
And if you'd backed Portsmouth to lose 1-0 in every game you'd have
staked £20 and returned £40, a 100% profit.

  • The 1-0 Birmingham 'Correct Score' is 7/1 (8.00) with the
bookies this weekend, including Ladbrokes and Stan James

FBD says:

  • Birmingham 'Draw No Bet' to beat Portsmouth @ 19/20 (1.95) with William Hill

This bet wins if Birmingham beat Portsmouth, and gives you your
money back if it's a draw. Also available at 10/11 (1.91) with Stan
James and 9/10 (1.90) with Expekt.

Corners

The Corners stats also stand out for this game...

  • 80% of Portsmouth home games have been Over 10.5 Corners

  • 70% of Birmingham away games have been Over 10.5 Corners

In fact both teams' games are averaging 12 or more corners. Games at
Fratton Park are averaging 12.8 Total Corners and the figure for
Birmingham away games is 12.0.

There were 12 corners in Portsmouth's last home game v Arsenal and
17 corners in Birmingham's last away game, v Stoke.

FBD says:

  • 'Asian Total Corners - Over 11.5' @ 20/23 (1.87) with Bet365

This bet wins if there are 12 or more corners in the game. Bet365
also offer the same bet with a different name, 'Over 11 Corners,' at
4/5 (1.80).

Blackburn have a strong home corners record this season...

  • Blackburn have won the Most Corners in 8 out of 10 games at
    Ewood Park (80%)

  • Fulham have only won the Most Corners in 1 out of 10 away
games and have been out-cornered in 80% of away games

Those results point to the home team winning the Most Corners in
this game, and our Corner Margin stats show that Fulham are
conceding on average over 2 corners more than they win per away
game.

Blackburn home Corners margin = +1.8 corners. Fulham away Corners
margin = -2.4 corners.

Check with Bet365, William Hill and Skybet for Corner Handicap bets
on this game.

FBD says:

  • 'Asian Handicap Corners - Blackburn -2' @ 44/45 (1.98) with
    Bet365

This bet wins if Blackburn win at least 3 corners more than Fulham,
and you get your money back if Blackburn win exactly 2 corners more
than Fulham.
