Rooney bags 6/1 'First Goal' at the Emirates

Monday 1st February 2010

In your Football Betting Data bulletin today:

  • Weekend results - 4 out of 5 winners...
  • A 3/1 Treble and a 6/1 'First Goalscorer'...
  • Sunderland v Stoke tonight - and midweek fixtures...

The betting for the Premier League title is looking like a two-horse
race...

Chelsea are top on 54 points after a 2-1 win at Burnley. Man Utd
have played a game more and are 2nd on 53 points after their 3-1 win
at Arsenal. That defeat leaves the Gunners 5 points off the top.

Latest Premier League Winner odds:

Chelsea 8/13
Man Utd 9/4
Arsenal 12/1
Everyone else 40/1+

Weekend results - 4 out of 5 winners

The stats didn't go our way on last week's midweek games (1 winner
from 4 selections). But we were back to winning ways at the weekend
with 4 winners from our recommended bets. There was also good news
if you followed some of the other stats I mentioned - including a
3/1 Treble and Wayne Rooney to score first at 6/1.

Burnley 1 Chelsea 2

Cards = 2 yellows. Booking Points = 20 pts

FBD said: Under 3.5 Cards @ 8/13 - WON

Burnley and Chelsea received 1 yellow card each from Referee Phil
Dowd on Saturday. Under 3.5 Cards bets gave now paid out a winner in
6 of both teams' last 8 games - and in 9 of Phil Dowd's last 11
Premier League games.

Arsenal 1 Man Utd 3

FBD said: Over 2.5 Goals @ 19/20 or 10/11 - WON

The 'high goals' trend between these Premier League rivals continues
- 6 of the last 7 league meetings between Arsenal and Man Utd have
now been Over 2.5 Goals. And on this season's form - 6 of the last 8
Arsenal
games and 7 of Man Utd's last 8 games have been Over 2.5
Goals.

  • I flagged up Wayne Rooney and Cesc Fabregas as the in-form
goalscorers for Sunday's game. Rooney scored his 10th goal in 11
games, putting Man Utd 2-0 up after 37 minutes. Rooney was 9/5 to
    Score at Anytime.

  • That Rooney goal also counts for First Goalscorer payouts, as
United's opening goal was an Own Goal by Arsenal 'keeper Manuel
Almunia (Own Goals don't count in the First Goalscorer market).
Rooney was 6/1 to be First Goalscorer.

West Ham 0 Blackburn 0

Corners = 18

FBD said: Under 11 Corners @ Evens - LOST

Before Saturday, 9 out of 11 Blackburn away games had seen 10 or
less Total Corners. However that trend went out the window at Upton
Park, with a whopping 18 corners - the highest total in any
Blackburn game all season.

Birmingham 1 Tottenham 1

FBD said: Under 2.5 Goals @ 8/11 or 7/10 - WON

St Andrews remains the lowest-scoring ground in the Premier League.
Under 2.5 Goals bets have now paid out in 75% of Birmingham home
games - and in Tottenham's last 7 league games in a row.

Hull 2 Wolves 2

No bet available. The stats pointed to Wolves to get the Most
Booking Points in this one - but come kick off on Saturday that bet
wasn't available at William Hill or any other bookies' sites. That
turned out to be for the best - as Hull went on to get 2 yellow
cards in the game (20 pts) and Wolves, for the first time in 11 away
games this season, didn't get any.

Man City 2 Portsmouth 0

Cards = City 1 yellow, Portsmouth 3 yellows
Booking Points = City 10 pts, Portsmouth 30 pts

FBD said: Booking Points Match Bet - Portsmouth @ 1/2 - WON

The Bookings stats were true to form in this one with Portsmouth
picking up the First Card and 2 yellow cards more than the home
team. City have only received the Most Booking Points in 1 out of 11
home games (9%) and in just 2 of their past 11 Premier League games
overall.

  • Both teams' Over 10.5 Corners records and Man City's home
corner-winning trend continued on Sunday. There were 17 corners in
total - with City winning 3 corners more than Portsmouth (enough to
    beat a -2 Corner Handicap).

  • I highlighted a Treble as one way to cash-in on City's corners
stats. Man City with a -1 Corner Handicap, Birmingham v Tottenham
Under 2.5 Goals and Arsenal v Man Utd Over 2.5 Goals paid out at
just over 3/1 with William Hill.

A couple of stats worth a mention for this one on the Cards and
Booking Points...

The bookies make away team Stoke odds-on favourite to receive the
First Card and the Most Booking Points tonight. But the stats and
recent form show the two teams are actually closely matched.

  • Sunderland have received the First Card in 90% of home games.
And Stoke have received the First Card in 90% of away games.

  • A Sunderland player has been shown the First Card in 11 of
    their last 12
Premier League games - and in their last 7 games in a
    row
at the Stadium of Light. A Stoke player has been shown the First
    Card
in 4 of their last 5 away games.

  • Sunderland have got the Most Booking Points in 64% of games
this season - including in 9 of their last 11 games. Stoke have got
the Most Booking Points in 4 of their last 6 games and in 80% of
    away games.

  • In the reverse fixture earlier this season Sunderland were
beaten 1-0, and they got the both the First Card and the Most
    Booking Points
    in that game (0-20 pts).

Here are the best odds for each option tonight.

First Card - Sunderland is 13/10 (2.30)
First Card - Stoke is 5/6 (1.83)
No Cards is 16/1

Most Booking Points - Sunderland is 19/10 (2.90)
Most Booking Points - Stoke is 10/11
Booking Points Tie is 7/2 (4.50)

Impossible to call, so 'no bet' is my verdict here. But if you're
determined to have an interest in tonight's game, you'll get bigger
odds for Sunderland.

First Card and Most Booking Points bets are on offer with these
bookies tonight.
