Standout stats for the midweek games

Last night Sunderland and Stoke played out a goalless draw at the
Stadium of Light. In Monday's email I mentioned both teams' above-
average records for receiving the First Card and Most Booking Points
in games this season. Here's how the stats went last night:

Both teams had matching 90% First Card records going in to last
night's game, but it was Stoke who kept up their trend. Dean
Whitehead got the first yellow card of the game on 38 minutes.

Both teams have also been winning the Most Booking Points in the
majority of games. Stoke went in the Referee's book most often last
night, with 1 more yellow card (10 pts more) than the home team.

only lost of their last 10 games.

Chelsea beat Hull 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on the first day of the
season and won this fixture 3-0 in 2008/9. They are short odds-on
for another win this evening, at 2/7 (1.29).

The Goals stats highlight a couple of other options...

• 14 of Hull's 23 games (60%) have paid out on Over 2.5 Goals
  bets

• 18 of Chelsea's 23 games (78%) have also gone Over 2.5 Goals

• 63% (7 out of 11) Hull home games have been Over 2.5 Goals

• 72% (8 out of 11) of Chelsea away games have also been Over
  2.5 Goals

Hull's home games are producing an average of 3.0 goals - while
Chelsea's away games are averaging 2.8.

And on recent form - 4 of Hull's last 5 league games have gone Over
2.5 Goals and 4 of Chelsea's last 5 league games have also paid out
a winner on Over 2.5 Goals bets.

Team news - Chelsea striker Didier Drogba is set to return tonight,
having been away at the African Cup of Nations in January. Drogba is
joint-3rd Top Scorer in the Premier League this season with 14
goals. And he has scored 8 goals in his last 10 league appearances.
If he plays, that's another good sign for an Over 2.5 Goals bet.

• Drogba is 10/11 favourite in the Anytime Scorer market and
  10/3 favourite to be the First Goalscorer

A couple of bookies will let you bet on Chelsea to win AND for there
to be Over 2.5 Goals in the game...

There have been 3 or more goals scored in each of the last 7 games
that Chelsea have won. And there have also been 3 or more goals in
each of the last 4 games that Hull have lost.

Fulham v Portsmouth

Fulham won 1-0 at Portsmouth earlier this season (their only away
win so far), and the stats point to another low-scoring game on
Wednesday night...

• 64% of Fulham home games have paid out on Under 2.5 Goals bets

• 73% of Portsmouth away games have also paid out on Under 2.5
  Goals bets (8 out of 11 games)

• Fulham home games and Portsmouth away games are both averaging

Last weekend Fulham were beaten 2-0 at home by Aston Villa, and
Portsmouth lost 2-0 at Man City. Bets on Under 2.5 Goals have paid

games.
