Wigan v Liverpool tonight - cash-in on the Goals stats

Monday 8th March 2010

In Football Betting Data today:

  • Weekend results - Man Utd go top...
  • Latest stats - Everton trend comes to an end, Bolton win
    away...
  • Wigan v Liverpool tonight - cash-in with a Goals bet...

With Chelsea on FA Cup duty at the weekend, Man Utd and Arsenal made
the most of the opportunity to close the gap at the top of the
Premier League - both winning on Saturday...

Man Utd went top of the table after winning 1-0 away at Wolves. And
Arsenal are a point behind them, level on 61 points with Chelsea,
after beating Burnley 3-1.

  • Chelsea will go back in to 1st place - if only for a few hours
    - if they beat West Ham this Saturday. They're odds-on to
    do so at 1/4.

Before this weekend's fixture list there are 4 Premier League games
taking place midweek - read on for my match preview for Wigan v
Liverpool
tonight.

Tonight - Wigan v Liverpool, live on ESPN 8pm
Tuesday - Portsmouth v Birmingham, 7.45pm
Tuesday - Sunderland v Bolton, 7.45pm
Wednesday - Burnley v Stoke, 7,45pm

Weekend results

The stats went against us at the weekend - Everton's 11-game 'Over
10.5 Corners' streak came to an end, and Bolton won for the first
time in 11 away games.

Arsenal 3 Burnley 1

  • FBD said: Arsenal -2.0 Asian Handicap @ 78/100 - VOID (money
    back)

The stats correctly pointed to a strong home win - it was just a
matter of how many goals Arsenal could score. They were 1 short of
the total needed to land this Asian Handicap bet. Arsenal had 28
Shots
compared to 9 for Burnley.

Stats update
Arsenal have now won 12 home games - and 11 of them by more than 1
goal
. Burnley have lost 14 away games - and 13 of them by more than
1 goal.

Everton 5 Hull City 1

Total Corners = 5.

  • FBD said: Asian Total Corners - Over 11.5 @ 4/5 - LOST

There were more Goals than Corners at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Before this game there had been at least 11 corners in the last 11
Everton games and the last 9 Hull games in a row.

Stats update:
That was the lowest number of Total Corners in any Everton or Hull
game so far this season. Everton have now won 6 home games in a row.

Accumulator bet...

  • FBD said: 4-fold acca on Arsenal, Man Utd and Everton to win
and West Ham 'Double  Chance' v Bolton @ 6/4 - LOST

Arsenal 3 Burnley 1 - Won
West Ham 1 Bolton 2 - Lost
Wolves 0 Man Utd 1 - Won
Everton 5 Hull 1 - Won

Arsenal, Man Utd and Everton all won their games - we just needed
West Ham to keep up their good recent home form and win or draw
against Bolton. But Bolton tore up the formbook and won their first
away game in 11 attempts.

The recent home / away form doesn't point to a clear 'match winner'
tonight - Wigan have lost 3 and drawn 2 of their last 5 games at the
DW Stadium, while Liverpool have won just 1 of their last 5 away
games
. Liverpool beat Wigan 2-1 at Anfield earlier in the season,
and drew 1-1 away last season.

The Goals stats point to a bet this evening...

Wigan have only scored 2 goals in their last 5 home games. And
Liverpool have only scored 2 goals in their last 5 away games.

  • 69% (9/13) of Wigan's home games have gone Under 2.5 Goals

  • 71% (10/14) of Liverpool's away games have gone Under 2.5
    Goals

4 out of Wigan's last 5 home games have gone Under 2.5 Goals - all
of Liverpool's last 5 away games have gone Under 2.5 Goals.

Wigan home games are producing an average of 2.2 goals. Liverpool's
away
games are averaging 2.0 goals.

  • 7 of Wigan's last 10 Premier League games have gone Under 2.5
    Goals

  • 9 of Liverpool's last 10 Premier League games have gone Under
    2.5 Goals

Both teams' most common score-lines this season have come in at
Under 2.5 Goals. Wigan have been involved in 5 games that have
finished 1-0 or 0-1. And there has been a 2-0 result (win or lose)
in 7 Liverpool games.

All those stats point to the Under 2.5 Goals option tonight.

FBD says:

  • 'Under 2.5 Goals' @ 8/11 (1.73) with Victor Chandler, Skybet, Betfred, Sportingbet, Ladbrokes, Coral and Stan James.
