4 Standout Stats and 4 Top Scorers for the weekend

Friday 26th March 2010

In Football Betting Data today:

  • Midweek results - Drogba scores again...
  • 4 standout stats for the Top 4 teams...
  • 4 scorers to follow this weekend...

I've got standout stats for games involving the 4 teams at the top
of the Premier League table this weekend - Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal
and Tottenham...

But first up a look at the midweek results - where some strong
'trends' failed to come off again.

Blackburn 2 Birmingham 1

  • FBD said: Blackburn to win at 11/10 - WON

Portsmouth 0 Chelsea 5

  • FBD said: Both Teams To Score @ 11/10 - LOST
  • FBD said: Over 10.5 Corners @ 7/15 - LOST

Portsmouth look all but relegated now, and with the end of season
run-in upon us, we'll be paying special attention to the teams that
need results when it comes to our recommended bets. There is still
all to play for in the title race and in the battle to avoid the
drop.

Aston Villa beat Chelsea 2-1 earlier this season and are unbeaten so
far in 2010. However title-chasing Chelsea have won 13 out of 15
games at Stamford Bridge and are the bookies' odds-on favourites to
win at 2/5 (1.40) after hammering Portsmouth 5-0 on Wednesday night.

These two have some of the highest Corners stats in the Premier
League. Check out these figures...

  • 73% of Chelsea home games have been Over 10.5 Corners -
    11 out of 15 games

  • 79% of Villa away games have been Over 10.5 Corners - 11 out
    of 14

  • 4 of the last 5 Chelsea home games have been Over 10.5 Corners

  • All of the last 5 Villa away games have been Over 10.5 Corners

There were 15 corners when these two met earlier in the season, and
Villa in particular have been a consistent team to back for 'Over'
corners bets this season...

There have been 12 or more corners in 11 of the last 12 Aston Villa
games
. That's a very strong record for 'Over 11.5 Corners' bets.

  • There aren't many options available for this game at the time
of writing. Over 10.5 Corners is just 3/10 (1.30) with Extrabet.
Over 12 bets are available with Bet365 and William Hill. They would
need at least 13 Total Corners to win.

Chelsea have been winning the majority of corners in their games -
and that points to a Corner Handicap bet...

  • Chelsea home corner averages = 8.0 For and 3.5 Against

  • Villa away corner averages = 4.9 For and 7.7 Against

Chelsea have won the Most Corners in 12 of their last 13 Premier
League games, home and away. In 9 of those games Chelsea would've
landed bets on them with -3 Corner Handicap (winning at least 4
corners more than opponents).

Villa on the other hand have been out-cornered in 6 of their last 7
away games, and have only won the Most Corners in 4 out of 14 games
all season (29%).

The season averages and recent form points to a Corner Handicap bet
on Chelsea.

FBD says:

  • Chelsea '-3 Corner Handicap' @ 7/10 (1.70) with William Hill

This bet wins if Chelsea win at least 4 corners more than Aston
Villa.

Skybet and Paddy Power.

Arsenal are in great form. They've won 6 games in a row, and won the
Most Corners in 5 of those games...

Birmingham don't have a great 'Corners record' against the title-
chasing teams - check out these stats:

Chelsea 3 Birmingham 0  Corners = Chelsea 8 Birmingham 3
Birmingham 1 Man Utd 1  Corners = Birmingham 2 Man Utd 12
Birmingham 0 Chelsea 0  Corners = Birmingham 7 Chelsea 11
Arsenal 3 Birmingham 1  Corners = Arsenal 7 Birmingham 3
Man Utd 1 Birmingham 0  Corners = Man Utd 13 Birmingham 2

Bets on Birmingham's opponent with a -3 Corner Handicap paid out a
winner in all of those games. And Arsenal are averaging +3.2 corners
more than opponents per away game.

Also, Arsenal can also be expected to dominate Possession - they
average just under 60% of Possession in away games - and that's a
good sign for a bet on a team winning the Most Corners.

FBD says:

  • Arsenal '-3 Corner Handicap' @ Evens (2.00) with Skybet

Also available at 10/11 (1.91) with Bet365. This bet wins if Arsenal
win at least 4 corners more than Birmingham.

Bolton look to have their work cut out on Saturday evening. Man Utd
are top of the league and have won their last 4 games in a row.
Here's Bolton's record so far this season against the title
contenders - 4 out of 4 defeats...

Man Utd 2 Bolton 1, Bolton 0 Chelsea 4, Bolton 0 Arsenal 2 and
Arsenal 4 Bolton 2.

Bolton have been out-cornered in all of those games. In the game at
Old Trafford, Man Utd won a massive 13 corners more than Bolton (14-
1).

Man Utd are winning an average of 4 corners per away game more than
opponents:

  • Bolton home corner margin = -2.1

  • Man Utd away corner margin = +4.1

United are consistent corners winners - they've won the Most Corners
in 5 of their last 6 away games and in 12 out of 15 away games
overall (80%).

Bolton have only won the Most Corners in 2 of their last 12 Premier
League games. Bolton's opponent has won at least 3 corners more than
them in 10 of those 12 games.

FBD says:

  • Man Utd '-3 Corner Handicap' @ Evens (2.00) with Skybet and Paddy Power

This bet wins if Man Utd win at least 4 corners more than Bolton.

All the stats point to a home win here. Tottenham are 4th in the
table and chasing Champions League qualification, while Portsmouth
are bottom and looked all but relegated. Spurs are 1/4 (1.25) to
win.

Portsmouth have suffered some big defeats against the top teams
recently, and another one could be on the cards here. In recent
weeks they've been beaten 5-0 by Man Utd, 4-1 by Liverpool and 5-0
by Chelsea.

  • 8 of the last 10 games that Tottenham have won have also
landed bets on the '-1 Match Handicap' - to win by more than 1 goal

  • 7 of Tottenham's 10 home wins have been by more than 1 goal

  • 7 of Portsmouth's 11 away defeats have been by more than 1
    goal

  • Tottenham have only conceded 2 goals in their last 7 games at
    White Hart Lane

Tottenham are the big favourites to win and the stats point to them
winning by more than 1 goal.

FBD says:

  • Tottenham '-1 Handicap' to beat Portsmouth @ 4/6 (1.67) with Blue Square and 888 Sport

This bet wins if Tottenham win by more than 1 goal.
