Weekend results - 7 goals in 7 games for Torres

Monday 29th March 2010

In Football Betting Data today:

  • Weekend results - big wins for Chelsea and Man Utd...
  • 7 goals in 7 games for Torres...
  • Man City v Wigan tonight...
  • Bank Holiday bets...

There were big wins for Chelsea and Man Utd at the weekend, as the
race for the title gathers pace...

The top 3 - Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal - have all played 32 games
now, with United a point above Chelsea as it stands. Arsenal are 4
points off the lead after drawing at Birmingham.

With 6 games to go, here's how the Outright Winner betting looks:

To win the Premier League - Best Odds
Man Utd - 17/20 Sportingbet
Chelsea - 7/4 Blue Square
Arsenal - 6/1 Coral

Last week's results - 2 out of 4 winners, and Torres
scores again

The top 3 all featured in our 'standout stats' for the weekend -
here are the results.

Chelsea 7 Aston Villa 1

Corners = Chelsea 8 Villa 6.

  • FBD said: Chelsea -3 Corner Handicap @ 7/10 - LOST

Chelsea hammered Villa 7-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday - an
incredible, 500/1 score-line. There have now been 19 goals scored in
the last 3 games at the Bridge, and Chelsea have won their last 2
Premier League games 5-0 and 7-1.

Both teams kept up their 73%+ trends for Over 10.5 Corners. That bet
was just 1/3 with the bookies for this game. Bets on Over 12 Corners
would also have paid out a winner (there were 14 in total).

However although Chelsea won the Most Corners, they were 2 short of
the total needed to land our recommended bet on the -3 Corner
Handicap
. Chelsea won 2 corners more than Villa, and have now won
the Most Corners in 13 of their last 14 games.

Birmingham 1 Arsenal 1

Corners = Birmingham 2 Arsenal 6

  • FBD said: Arsenal -3 Corner Handicap @ Evens - WON

Arsenal were denied their 7th straight win by an injury-time goal
from super-sub Kevin Philips. However the Gunners covered the
bookies' -3 Corner Handicap, winning 4 corners more than Birmingham.
That -3 Corner Handicap bet has paid out a winner in all 6
Birmingham games against the title-chasing teams this season - Man
Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Bolton 0 Man Utd 4

Corners = Bolton 11 Man Utd 6.

  • FBD said: Man Utd -3 Corner Handicap @ Evens - LOST

Man Utd won their 5th game in a row, and could even afford to rest
top scorer Wayne Rooney for the trip to Bolton.

However while the Match Result was no surprise, Bolton did turn the
corners stats on their head, winning 11 corners - more corners than
any other team has got against Man Utd all season.

Tottenham 2 Portsmouth 0

  • FBD said: Tottenham -1 Handicap @ 4/6 - WON

Tottenham cruised to victory over bottom club Portsmouth on
Saturday. They were 2-0 up at Half Time, and that's how it stayed.
Bets on the -1 Handicap have paid out a winner in 8 of Tottenham's
11
home wins. And Portsmouth have been beaten by more than 1 goal in
8 of their 12 away defeats.

Scorers update...

There have been some consistent scorers in the Premier League
recently, and several of the players I've been mentioning for
Anytime Scorer and First Goalscorer bets have been finding the net
over the past couple of weeks.

In Friday's email I highlighted Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney, Roman
Pavlyuchenko and Fernando Torres...

Drogba and Rooney didn't play (all scorer bets void), Pavlyuchenko
came on for the last 10 minutes of the Tottenham game but didn't
score - and Fernando Torres hit Liverpool's opening goal against
Sunderland yesterday afternoon.

  • Torres was 8/11 to Score Anytime and 11/4 to the First
    Goalscorer
. He's now scored 7 goals in his last 7 games.

I'll be highlighting more scorer bets to follow in your weekly
emails between now and the end of the season.

Man City v Wigan tonight...

Man City play Wigan tonight, live on ESPN at 8pm. No recommended bet
- but one market to watch out for in that game...

Man City are just 1/6 to win the Most Corners tonight. But that
doesn't necessarily mean they are likely to win stacks more corners
than Wigan.

Corner Handicap - Best Odds
Man City -4 Corner Handicap is 6/5 with Bet365
Wigan +4 Corner Handicap is Evens with Stan James
-4 Corner Handicap 'Tie' is 15/2 with Bet365

  • Man City have won the Most Corners in their last 8 home games
    - but they have not beaten a -4 Corner Handicap in any of those
    games

  • Wigan have won the Most Corners in their last 4 away games

Bank Holiday bets...

It's Easter this weekend, and the big event on the football calendar
is the top-of-the-table clash between Man Utd and Chelsea on
Saturday lunchtime...

  • To allow for the Bank Holiday break, look out for your weekend
match preview email from me a day earlier than usual this week on
    Thursday (1st April).

Best wishes,

Matt Nesbitt
