Cash-in at Chelsea, Aston Villa and Wigan this week

Tuesday 13th April 2010

In Football Betting Data today - 4 midweek games:

  • Chelsea v Bolton tonight - live on ESPN at 8pm...
  • Tottenham v Arsenal tomorrow - live on Sky Sports 1 at 8pm
  • Wigan v Portsmouth - Time of First Goal...
  • Aston Villa and Everton - Premier League 'draw' specialists...

There are 4 'midweek' games in the Premier League with Chelsea v Bolton
live on ESPN tonight, followed by 3 games on Wednesday night...

After 3 out of 4 games were goalless draws on Sunday, bookies are
betting on the Total Number of Goals in the midweek games. Victor
Chandler make it 2/1 for 'Fewer Than 10 Total Goals.'

The goals stats certainly point to a low-scoring game at Wigan (see
below), but Chelsea have been scoring for fun lately - and anything can
happen in the North London derby between Tottenham and Arsenal...

Read on for what the stats say about each of the midweek games - and

Chelsea's free-scoring form of late highlights opportunities in the
Goals markets...

  • Chelsea have averaged 3.3 Goals per home match this season

  • Chelsea have scored 18 goals in their last 5 home matches (an
    average of 3.6)

  • 81.3% of Chelsea's home matches have gone Over 2.5 Goals this
    season

Bolton's away record couldn't be more different. They have only
scored in 1 of their last 8 away matches...

  • Bolton have averaged less than 1 goal (0.9) per match in away
    matches this season

  • Bolton have scored just 2 goals in their last 5 away matches (in
the same game at struggling West Ham)

  • Bolton have only scored in 1 of their last 5 games, home and away

9 out of the last 10 Chelsea home matches have gone Over 2.5 Goals,
with 3 out of Bolton's last 5 away also going over. So Over 2.5 Goals
looks likely - but the bookmakers' odds suggest they are expecting
this. The best price is just 4/9 (1.44) with Skybet.

So you might want to look at Chelsea 'To Win To Nil' for a better
return for your money...

They beat Bolton 4-0 away earlier this season and 13 of Chelsea's 23
wins
have been To Nil this season. Bolton have been beaten To Nil in
each of their last 3 away games, and in 12 out of 17 defeats overall
(71%).

FBD says:

  • Chelsea 'To Win To Nil' v Bolton @ 4/6 (1.67) with Extrabet

Also available at 8/13 (1.62) with Paddy Power, Skybet, Blue Square and

Portsmouth are already relegated but have the FA Cup final to look
forward to next month. Wigan are odds-on to win at 8/13, but it's worth
noting they've only won 5 out of 16 home games so far (only Wolves and
Portsmouth have won less at home).

  • Stats fact:
    4 of Wigan's 5 home wins have been by a 1-0 score-line.
The 1-0 Wigan 'Correct Score' is 6/1

The Total Goals and Goal Time stats highlight the best bets in this
game...

  • Wigan home First Goal Time average = 41 mins

  • Portsmouth away First Goal Time average = 37 mins

Earlier this season Portsmouth beat Wigan 4-0 at Fratton Park, with the
First Goal scored in the 35th minute.

There has only been a goal scored Before 27th minute in 3 of the last 10
Wigan games
. And there hasn't been a goal scored in the first 30 mins
of play in their last 3 games.

Wigan's last home game was 0-0 until the 93rd minute - when they
snatched a 1-0 win over Burnley with an injury time winner. Portsmouth
beat Tottenham 2-0 in Extra Time in the FA Cup semi final at Wembley -
that game was goalless in normal time.

Wigan have only scored 5 goals in their last 10 games. Portsmouth have
only scored 5 goals in their last 10 away games. Bets on Under 2.5
Goals
have paid out in 69% of Wigan home games and 63% of Portsmouth
away games this season, with both teams' games averaging Under 2.5
Total Goals per game.

Those low goals stats are a good sign for an 'After' bet on the First
Goal Time. Under 2.5 Goals is a best price 17/20 (1.85) with Bet365,
and First Goal After 27th Minute is Evens with Stan James and Paddy
Power.

FBD says:

  • 'Time of the First Goal - After 27th Minute' @ Evens (2.00) with Stan James

Anything could happen in the North London derby. Last season this
fixture ended 0-0, but in the past couple of seasons we've had a 4-4
draw, a 5-1 win for Spurs in the Carling Cup and a 3-0 home win for
Arsenal in the league.

You might expect the tackles to be flying in a derby match - Over 4.5
Cards is 11/10 with Bet365 - but there were just 2 yellow cards in the
game at the Emirates earlier this season.

The game is live on Sky Sports on Wednesday night - I'll be watching it
for sure - but the stats don't suggest a bet this time.

Aston Villa are 7th in the table and Everton are 8th - and these sides
are two of the Premier League's 'draw' specialists...

Villa have drawn 12 games this season and Everton have drawn 11. Only
Man City (11), Sunderland (11) and Stoke (13 draw) can match or better
those records.

If you'd backed the Draw in both teams' recent games, you'd be well in
profit:

  • Villa have drawn 7 of their last 12 Premier League games. At odds of
12/5 for the Draw, if you'd placed 12 bets at £10 each you'd be £118 up
    - a 98% profit

  • Everton have drawn 3 of their last 5 games. Betting at the same odds
    at £10 a time, you'd have placed 5 bets and made £52 - a 104% profit

These two played out a 1-1 draw at Everton earlier in the season. The
best odds for another Draw on Wednesday night are 12/5 (3.40) with Betfred and Totesport.

FBD says:

  • Aston Villa v Everton to be a Draw @ 12/5 (3.40) with Betfred and Totesport

Multiply your winnings...

Today's 3 recommended bets can all be placed at Paddy Power. A Treble
would pay over 9/1. And 3 Doubles would give you your money back and a
profit if 2 of the bets win, with a bumper payout if all 3 are landed.

  • Remember to stake sensibly with any multiple bets - the potential
winnings are bigger, but so are the chances of landing them

I'll be back on Friday with the standout stats for the weekend's
Premier League games...
