Cash-in on Liverpool and Man City tonight
Wednesday 16th December 2009
In today's email:
- Last night's results
- Standout stats for tonight's games...
- More to come at the weekend...
A couple of near misses last night, with a grandstand finish at
Birmingham resulting in a late flurry of corners - and just one (or
even 'half') a corner kick away from a winner at Man Utd...
Last night's results - near misses at St Andrews and Old Trafford
'Stats watch' - As well as the results of our recommended bets, I've
also included other trends on our radar that paid out again last
night.
Sunderland 0 Aston Villa 2
Corners = Sunderland 7 Villa 1
FBD said:
- Corners Handicap - Villa +1 corner @ 5/6 - LOST
Villa led for the most the match, scoring a goal in either half.
Sunderland were chasing goals, and they ended up getting 6 corners
more than the away team.
- Stats watch...
Last week we had a winner on Sunderland to get the First Card. They
kept up that home trend last night with their captain, Lorik Cana
getting a first yellow card after just 13 minutes (he was later sent
off). Sunderland have now received the First Card in 8 out of 9 home
games - 89%.
Man Utd 3 Wolves 0
Total Corners = 11*
FBD said:
- 'Asian Total Corners - Over 11.5' @ 19/20 - LOST
* Check with the bookie you placed your bet with to see whether or
not you got a payout on this one. There were 12 corners 'awarded' in
the game - but only 11 of them were 'taken.' The corner kick in
question came right on half time - the Referee gave a Man Utd corner
but then blew for Half Time before it was taken.
Rules on Bet365 website: 'Corners awarded but not taken do not
count.' The 'FBD says' bet I quoted in yesterday's email was with
Bet365 - so that bet goes down as a near miss for us.
- Stats watch...
Man Utd have won the Most Corners in 100% of games at Old Trafford.
Last night the corners score was 8-3. However United have to win
stacks of corners to beat the bookies' Corner Handicap mark these
days - last night the Corner Handicap was -5 (and that bet would've
lost).
Birmingham 2 Blackburn 1
Total Corners = 13
FBD said:
- Under 11.5 Corners @ 4/6 - LOST
Another near miss. With 90 minutes of normal time gone there'd been
just 9 corners. But an end-to-end finish with both teams going all-
out resulted in 4 corners in the 3 minutes of 'added on' time,
taking the total to 13.
-
Stats watch...
Last week we had a winner on Birmingham to win at home (beat West
Ham 1-0). Last night's win makes it 5 wins in a row for the Blues -
and keeps them top of the Premier League 'Form Guide' table.
-
Stats watch...
At the weekend I mentioned Birmingham's Winning Margin stats - after last night, they have won by exactly 1 goal in ALL 8 of the games
they've won this season. That 'Winning Margin' bet generally pays
out at 3/1.
Bolton 3 West Ham 1
FBD said:
- Over 2.5 Goals @ 10/11 - WON
This one was goalless at Half Time - but 4 goals came in the 2nd
Half.
- Stats watch...
Bets on Over 2.5 Goals have paid out in 5 of the last 6 Bolton home
games and 5 of the last 6 West Ham away games.
Tonight's games...
Burnley v Arsenal - 7.45pm
Chelsea v Portsmouth - 7.45pm
Liverpool v Wigan - 8pm
Tottenham v Man City - 8pm live on Sky Sports 2

Liverpool are strong corner winners at Anfield. On average they're
winning 5 corners per game more than opponents (+5.3 Corners
margin). Wigan's away figure is -2.8 Corners.
After a poor run of results Liverpool will be absolutely desperate
to get a win tonight. Whether or not they get it is a different
matter - but the stats suggest Liverpool are likely to win plenty of
corners trying.
William Hill offer Liverpool with a -3 Corner Handicap tonight. That
bet would've paid out a winner in 6 of their 8 home games so far.
FBD says:
- Liverpool -3 Corner Handicap @ 17/20 (1.85) with William Hill
This bet wins if Liverpool win at least 4 corners more than Wigan.

Tottenham have won the Most Corners in 50% of home games and 44% of
games overall. That's not a great record, and the stats show both
teams are evenly matched here:
Man City are available with +2 Corner Handicap tonight. That bet
would've paid out a winner in 12 of their 15 Premier League games
this season (80%), in 6 out of their 8 away games (75%) - and in 9
of their last 10 games.
Last week City won the corner count 9-5 away at Bolton, while Spurs
lost the corner count 3-5 at home to Wolves.
FBD says:
- Man City +2 Corner Handicap @ 5/6 (1.83) with William Hill
This bet wins if Man City win more corners, the same amount of
corners or 1 corner less than Tottenham.

Also available - Stan James, Paddy Power, Skybet, Boylesports and
Bet365 offer Man City with a '+1 Corner Handicap' (that bet that
wins if Tottenham don't get the most corners).
