Weekend results - and good news for our Top Scorer bets

Monday 31st August 2010

In Football Betting Data today:

  • Weekend bet results...
  • Yet another high corners game at Aston Villa...
  • Top Scorers finding the net again...

The top of the Premier League table has a familiar look to it with
Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal in the top three places after they all
won at the weekend...

Chelsea are top with a 100% record - they've won 6-0, 0-6 and 2-0 so
far - and the bookies make them 5/4 favourites to retain their
Premier League title.

At the bottom of the table West Ham and Stoke are the only teams
with no points to their name having each lost 3 times so far. The
bookies don't seem to think it will stay that way though - Victor
Chandler make West Ham 10/1 to finish 'Rock Bottom' and Stoke are
way out at 28/1.

Here are the key stats and results from the four games I looked at
in Friday's Football Betting Data email...

Man Utd 3 West Ham 0

Corners = Man Utd 9 West Ham 3.

Recommended Bet:

  • Man Utd -5 Corner Handicap @ 17/20 - WON

I highlighted two bet options for this game, with the stats paying
out on both Over 2.5 Goals, and our recommended bet on the Corner
Handicap. Man Utd have won the most corners in 3 out of 3 games so
far this season - and all 3 games have also gone Over 2.5 Goals.

Bolton 2 Birmingham 2

Total Corners = 7.

Recommended Bet:

  • Over 10.5 Corners @ 67/100 - LOST

The stats from last season and the opening games suggested an 'Over'
game here, but there were just 7 corner kicks at the Reebok Stadium
on Sunday.

Aston Villa 1 Everton 0

Corners = Villa 4 Everton 18

Recommended Bet:

  • Aston Villa to win the Corners Match Bet @ 5/6 - LOST

Villa kept up their record for 'high corners' games, but it was
Everton who won the majority of corners here. Bets on Over 10.5
Corners
and Over 11 Corners have paid out in all 3 Aston Villa games
so far, and there were a whopping 22 Total Corners in this game.

Chelsea 2 Stoke 0

Recommended Bet:

  • Chelsea -2 Match Handicap @ 5/6 - LOST

Chelsea kept up their 100% start to the season with another win -
but our recommended bet needed them to score 1 more goal to beat the
-2 Match Handicap (Chelsea had won their last 3 home games 7-0, 8-0
and 6-0).

I also highlighted Stoke's disciplinary record. The bookies were
right to make Stoke short odds-at at just 2/5 and 4/9 to receive the
First Card and the Most Booking Points. The Booking Points result
was Chelsea zero (no cards) and Stoke 20 pts (2 yellow cards).

  • Our first 'recommended bets' may not have all paid off, but
the stats are showing some strong trends already and the more games
that are played, the more bets I'll be highlighting...

'Top Scorers' finding the net again...

There are still 350 games to go - but it's been an encouraging start
to the season for our recommended Top Scorer bets.

  • Didier Drogba was 11/8 to be Chelsea's Top Scorer - after 4
goals in their first 3 games he's now just 4/9 to land that bet...

  • Darren Bent was our 4/6 pick to be Sunderland's Top Scorer
after scoring half their goals last season. So far he's scored 2 of
    his club's 3 goals...

  • Darren Bent was also top of the bookies' Top Scorer Handicap
table for us last season (a 22/1 winner), and I highlighted him
again this season at 16/1 each way with a +8 Goals Handicap. With 2
goals to his name already giving him a current total of 10, Bent
looks set to be well in the running again...

At the start of the season I highlighted a total of 11 players and
bets - you can view the full report in your exclusive Top Scorers
Guide here:

England playing this weekend...

There are no Premier League games this weekend as it's the start of
the Euro 2010 Qualifiers (England play Bulgaria at Wembley on Friday
night).

The league action returns on the weekend of 11th September with a
full round of 10 games, I'll be back in touch before then with your
Friday and Monday email updates - looking at the standout stats from
the Premier League and also how to cash-in on the new Champions
League
season...

Best wishes,

Matt Nesbitt
